Android is better than the others!

Better than others?

Last time we talked about some important things to consider on the choice of your next phone. One of the things we talked about was the OS.
We will now consider one of the most used OSes in the world and what makes it better than others.

Android is an open-source OS owned by Google, which is present in over 2.5 billion active devices in the world. Its many accessible attributes make it a fan favourite with smartphone users. What are these attributes that make it more preferable to other OSes including its main rival Apple's iOS, and why should you choose an Android phone over an iOS phone?

Here are some reasons.

1. Ease of Customization.

You can rearrange your home screen, set a picture as the background, choose what app stays on what page, and all that. In android, you can pin just about anything to your home screen. Items like your favourite contacts can be pinned so you can just tap and call. You can even pin services you use frequently so you don't always have to navigate to the app before accessing it. These are not presently available on iOS.

2. More Affordable Phones.

Android phones come in various makes, shapes, sizes, and obviously, prices too. You can pick up a low budget phone that does the basics. Unlike its nearest rival iOS, whose phones are quite pricey and only made by Apple. You also have more choices in hardware and devices using an Android. You could choose to use say a Samsung or an Oppo, Huawei, or even a Tecno phone.

3. Open Source.

Open Source is basically when the owner of a computer software grants other people full access to the source code enabling them to use it as they like. Android, owned by Google, is an open-source OS meaning that any phone maker can use it on their phone. This means that you can port apps from one phone maker to another. For example, if you have been using Tecno android phone with an app like Google music, and you choose to move to another phone maker like Samsung, the same app will still work. You can share apps and other files through Bluetooth to others. It is, therefore easier to access third-party apps on an android than other mobile OS. It's open-source nature also means you can download content from any source into your device such as media, docs, and apps. Google advises against this and asks that users get primarily from Playstore which is safer.

4. Accessories.

Most phone accessories use the standard or more common USB B port and will connect to most android devices. Though most newer Android devices are adopting USB C ports, you will find that most accessories like chargers, earpieces and the likes will seamlessly work with your Android. Unlike iOS, which needs specialized accessories that match its proprietary lightning port. It is also known that the standard Android accessories are way cheaper than the iOS versions.

5. Cloud Integration.

Both android and iOS offer cloud storage for their customers to enable backups and migration to new devices. While iCloud, Apple's cloud storage is limited to 5GB free, this can be easily filled by your photos, Google's Android offers its customers more cloud storage of up to 15GB on all platforms with a better offer in its photos app; You can store unlimited photos if you agree to reduce the size to standard quality. This means your photos will not take up all your cloud storage as it does in iOS. On both OSes, you can choose to get more storage for a monthly fee of course.

These are some of the distinctive qualities that make Android one of the most used phone software in the world.

What are the reasons you prefer your Android to the others, tell us in the comment section?
