My Top 5 tech gifts for the season

So it’s that time of the year that is synonymous with giving and sharing stuff, it’s Christmas the most celebrated holiday in the world. Many organizations and individuals will be arranging items to gift out to clients and loved ones. Have you made up your mind on what you will be giving out? If you haven’t we are here to help you decide on what you could add to your gift or hamper list.

Considering that we are tech-driven here, we will be recommending some tech-related items to add to your holiday list this season.

5. Bluetooth Speakers

Bluetooth Speakers

If you are a lover of music then you will know how handy and useful this device is. Apart from the fact that it can boost the sound from your devices like your phones, tabs and laptops there are fast becoming a fashion item as I have seen many young people even walking around with them while they play their favourite songs on the go. They come in different shapes, models colours and prices too. Some even come with memory card spaces and FM Tuner so you could also listen to your favourite station even when electricity is not available.

Prices for this item ranges from as little as N4, 000 to as much as N50, 000

4. Wireless earpieces

Wireless Earpiece

Wireless earpieces have been around for a while now but they too have become a very trendy tech necessity. We need them to make calls, listen to music and even work, basically for work and pleasure. You know how distracting holding your phone could be while you drive? Well owning one of these will allow you to concentrate on the more important things not to mention that fact that holding your phone while you drive is illegal and dangerous too.

Just like the wireless speakers, the wireless earpiece are fashion statements by the young and they too come in various designs and colours too.

Prices for these items range from 2k for the less durable ones and for as much as 80k for the more durable and stylish ones.

3. Phablets

Phablet

The word Phablet is a portmanteau (a blend of words) of the words Phone and Tablets. There are basically phones with big screen sizes that can double both as a phone or a tablet. For most people who need big screen size to work or play getting a phablet is probably the way to go. The most interesting thing is that most phones especially the top-rated phones could be classed in this category. Why am I adding this here? I would have just said tablets but then most tablets don’t have the phone calling features for example iPads.

With the multifunction-ability of the average phablet this is an item you would like to add to your list this season.

The average price for a good phablet with the baseline requirement for a 2019 device is 35k

2. Travel Charger

Travel Chargers

Don’t be surprised to see this item on this list. If you ask me this is arguably the most important item on this list. If you have ever lost your “follow - come” charger and had to search for a new one only to keep on buying fake ones then you will understand why this makes it to our list and why it’s this highly placed too.

We need chargers to charge all the devices on this list and especially our phones. Gifting yourself or a loved one this item helps to solve a major problem oh, like you know all those people who never have a charger but always prefer to use yours. Plus it’s a very good idea to own more than one charger anyways, one for the house and one for the office so you don’t have to move around with your “follow-come” charger and risk losing it.

A good charger will set you back about 3k5

1.  Smart Watch

Smartwatches

We are in the era of the internet of things (IoT) where almost all our everyday items are now connected to the internet or a local network and we can remotely connect to them (we will discuss home automation some other time)watches are therefore no exception. From the time when all watches did was tell time to an era where our watches should do more. Do more like tell us the time, read our messages, answer or calls, check and monitor our vitals like heart rate, blood pressure, weight, step count among others. The average smartwatch can pair with your phone to provide these functions, isn’t that awesome?

Did I also tell you that this item is also a major fashion statement too? Winks!

You can get these beauties for as low as 3k for the basic fitness trackers and as much as 200k for the more sophisticated ones from the big brands.

Finally, I hope we have been able to persuade you to get one of these gifts for yourself or a loved one preferably. Remember that this is a more general classification of these items and we were not being specific to any brand. You can contact us for more specifics we will be glad to assist you.

Music on the go: Where to download and access music online free and legal

Music on the go! For most of us, music performs a major role in our lives. It’s not just to entertain us which seems to be the primary purpose of music. It also helps to calm, soothe, console, inspire and so much more. Music has also been known to be used as a propaganda tool and as such has been used for both negative and positive campaigns. For me as a person, music helps to relax and also inspire me: you can call music my muse. When I am working on a project and I need inspiration, music comes in very handy, and I am sure it functions just as effective for most people. I listen to music all the time especially when I am on the go or in transit. This article is not an article about the various genres of music or about music producers, but it is inspired by a major question I have been asked by people who want a reliable source to get music especially on the go. As you know, our devices don’t come with music pre-loaded. Where and how do we get music into o...

Android is better than the others!

Better than others? Last time we talked about some important things to consider on the choice of your next phone. One of the things we talked about was the OS. We will now consider one of the most used OSes in the world and what makes it better than others. Android is an open-source OS owned by Google, which is present in over 2.5 billion active devices in the world. Its many accessible attributes make it a fan favourite with smartphone users. What are these attributes that make it more preferable to other OSes including its main rival Apple's iOS, and why should you choose an Android phone over an iOS phone? Here are some reasons. 1. Ease of Customization . You can rearrange your home screen, set a picture as the background, choose what app stays on what page, and all that. In android, you can pin just about anything to your home screen. Items like your favourite contacts can be pinned so you can just tap and call. You can even pin services you use frequently so you don't alw...
