Before you buy your next phone
Consider these few things...
Mobile Phones have become a major part of our lives. We use them for work, (how about to garner information? It is different from work, to stay abreast of global trends. You can't negate this or disregard it), to socialise and even for spiritual purposes. Choosing the right phone to get is therefore very important as this is a determinant of the effectiveness of the phone to you
What then are the things to look out for when choosing a phone? We will attempt to guide you through as you try to make up your mind on your next phone.
The following are necessary:
1. YOUR BUDGET
How much are you willing to (I'll prefer splurge on your next phone) spend to get your next phone? Phones can cost from 20k to as much as 500k. While the 20k phones may not have all the functionality of the 500k phones, they are at least, able to do the basics like calls, SMS, social media, and even camera. Which brings us to our next item to consider.
2. PURPOSE OF THE PHONE
Phones are capable of doing so much more than the basics- calls and SMS. If these are your expectations from your phone then maybe a 'Torchlight' phone would not be so bad of an idea.
Phones are capable of performing many functions that a regular PC can, so if your phone is meant to be your 'office on the go', then you will have to find a phone with wider abilities.
3. OPERATING SYSTEM
An operating system or OS is basically the software that makes a phone function. The 2 most common phone OS are Android by Google and iOS by Apple. Statistics available show that 74% of phone users use android smartphones while 24% use iOS smartphones.
Even if you have decided on the OS, it is important to know the version of the OS you want as some of your favourite Apps may not work well with the older versions of the OS.
4. STORAGE
Another very important thing to consider before acquiring a phone is the space available to store files. I know there are many android users who dislike the pop-up,"Free internal memory". Who wouldn't want to store as many files that the human brain can and may not. The movie lovers? Music lovers? Documents? Work files? You should know that the phone's OS uses part of the phone space to store the files that make your phone work.
The Apps you use also take up additional space. Some apps take up more space than others. The more you use, update, and download on the app, the more the app gets bigger and uses up storage on your phone. Say you have a 16GB storage phone, the phones' OS will mostly take 6-7 GB leaving you with about 10GB to store your Apps and user files like media.
Getting a phone with more storage is therefore advisable.
5. BATTERY
Research suggests that the average time spent on phones a day by people is 3-4 hours. Some spend as much as 11 hours on their phones per day. You don't want a phone that drains out in less than 4 hours. Battery life depends greatly on functionality of the phone and usage. Some phones have better battery life than others. The mAh of a phone does not guarantee how long the battery will last. Which leads to the next point
6. CONSIDER REVIEWS
Who else has used the phone you intend to buy? What do they say about it? What do phone experts say about it? It is very important that you ask people who seem to know better about a phone before you buy it. Don't depend solely on what the seller tells you. Find out about all that we have highlighted and any other thing you think is important to you before you buy your phone.
Finally, there are many other things that most people consider too.
Things like Camera, Processor/RAM, Screen size are some others. It is very important you do your research or ask questions before you buy your next phone.
You can drop your questions and comments at the comments section and we will answer them.
Nice, will have these in mind, when i am getting my next phone.
